Description: 1826 Great Britain Gold Sovereign, George IV - S-3801 - graded by PCGS AU Detail, scratch. The 1826 gold sovereign was the seventh sovereign to be issued during the reign of King George IV. This is because two sovereign designs were issued in 1825. The updated bare head design was issued in 1825 together with the older design. From 1826 onwards (until 1830) the mint issued only the bare head portrait of George IV combined with a crowned shield on the reverse.
