Comprises the issues spanning October, 1886, to September, 1887. Includes an engraved frontis, seventeen plates, and numerous in-text illustrations. With decorative initial letters, and head- and tailpieces throughout. Contents include 'An Unknown Country' by Mrs Craik, and contributions by Algernon Charles Swinburne, F. Marion Crawford, and George Du Maurier. 'The English Illustrated Magazine' was a monthly publication that ran for 359 issues between October, 1883, and August, 1913. Features included travel, topography, and a large amount of fiction. CONDITION Bound in half-leather with gilt lettering and marbled paper-covered boards. There is only some mild wear to the extremities, with just some mild rubbing, and slight bumping and discolouration. The front hinge is starting but still firm. The binding is tight and firm. Internally the pages are generally clean and bright with light spotting to the first and last few pages. Overall the condition is good only, with a very good indeed interior.
