Description: Original circa 1888 or slightly later stereoview. The stereoview photo which has a copyright date of 1888 is titled “The Wake”. In the photo five people are wearing strange masks. Also, there are numerous wine bottles, a pottery pitcher, & a red ware pot for a plant turned upside down in the foreground. We have not been able to figure out what is really going on in this very odd stereoview?? Five of the people have on strange masks. The other people are not wearing masks. The sepia stereoview photos are mounted on a pink colored curved mount that is rounded at the corners (as made). The mount measures 7 inches long by 3 7/16 inches from top to bottom. The stereoview is in excellent condition. There is very minor wear to the matt. One end of the mount is marked “James M. Davis, New York, St. Louis, Liverpool, Toronto, Sydney.” The other end of the mount is marked: “Copyright 1888, by B. W. Kilburn.” Please examine the photos closely & purchase based on your own judgement as to condition & value. This item is inventory #6628.
