Description: DICK AND JANE readers are icons of American culture and highly collectable. First appearing in 1930, they were used until the 1970s to teach whole-word reading in the United States. This 1936 pre-primer dates to the second edition of the series, which was updated every five years until 1965; Sally is still called Baby and Spot is a terrier. Their cat is Little Mew. Delightful full-color illustrations. Good vintage condition. Covers are worn and chipped. Pages are unmarked but soiled, with a few small dog ears and one small tear. Page 1-2 is coming loose at the top and someone has used tape to secure it. Black binding is frayed at the top and bottom.
