Description: **Justice Cardozo Poses on 67th Birthday** Washington, D.C., May 21 - U.S. Supreme Court Justice Benjamin Cardozo broke a precedent today on the occasion of his 67th birthday when he posed for news cameramen. No special celebration was planned for the anniversary, Justice Cardozo told newspapermen. 5/24/37. Justice Benjamin N. Cardozo was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1932 by President Herbert Hoover. Known for his eloquent opinions and his philosophy of the law, Cardozo made significant contributions to American jurisprudence. Before his appointment to the Supreme Court, he served as the Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals, where he became a highly respected legal thinker. === This 7x8.5” original type 1 photograph is from the personal collection of photographer Wes Howland (1906-1956). Howland was a reporter with the Harris-Ewing news service in Washington D.C from 1931-1941, and went on to serve with the military. He was one of a small number of photographers with complete access to the White House, Capitol, Senate, and House. This photo was part of a collection of over 1200 8x10” Wes Howland personal archive images that we acquired from his estate. These original prints are exceptionally rare, if not the only that exist. Not only did Mr Howland have incredible access to the government figures of the day, but he was a highly skilled photographer who produced some stunning historical images and documented Washington D.C. in the 1930s like few others. This photo is a unique piece of history, and we trust you will enjoy it in your collection. We are happy to offer discounts if you order multiple photos.
