Description: 1937-D ANACS XF Buffalo Nickel - 3 Leg Error MY COMMENTS: THE GOOD NEWS: Nice Original Better Grade Better Variety Certified Coin, Nice Color & Super Eye Appeal, Full Strong Date & Nice Mint Mark, Nice Rims. Nice detail in the Indian's Hair. Nice Full Horn detail on the reverse that is typical for an XF. The darkness around the design of the coin is a little dirt. This is very common on buffalo's. It looks worse in the picture than it is. Certified by a top service as XF Details. This is in an older style small ANACS holder. These holders are very popular. Please bid with confidence because I stand behind what I sell. This is the hard to find 3 LEG BUFFALO NICKEL. This came to exist when a mint worker was polishing the coin die and he went overboard polishing the leg right off the die. Die markers to look for on a genuine 37-D is the far right hind leg has a moth eaten appearance, and under the buffalo there are raised portions of metal. On mid-grade & lower grade coins the raised metal wears away, but there is a trace of this on this coin. Please bid with confidence because I stand behind what I sell. THE BAD NEWS: Not really bad, but as noted on the holder, there is a scratch on the Indian's nose. Sometimes things like this can be expected because these coins were used as real money long ago. Most coins have flaws, it's just a matter of what is acceptable for the grade. I think they were a bit tough on this coin as I've seen much worse in problem free slabs. Still a very pleasing coin.
