This type, signed by Christopher Henry Murray and Tomás Francis O’Cofaigh was issued between August 30, 1978 and October 30, 1981. This one is dated November 13, 1978. It pictures Queen Medb, a legendary figure from Irish mythology. She was the Queen of Connacht and is best known for her role in the Táin Bó Cúailnge (The Cattle Raid of Cooley), one of the great epic tales of Irish literature. Back: Gaelic writing. The text is an excerpt from the ancient Irish manuscript “Lebor na hUidre” (The Book of the Dun Cow), which is one of the oldest surviving Irish manuscripts. • Watermark: Lady Lavery. Hazel Lavery, was the wife of the Irish artist Sir John Lavery. The Note: A crisp uncirculated note, it has a couple of corner bumps, but no bends, folds, edge or body tears and no pinholes.
