Description: Cal Ripken, Jr. was selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the 48th overall pick in the 1978 MLB draft. He would make his initial debut in 1981. His rookie cards wouldn’t be released until 1982. This card also has Bob Bonner and Jeff Schnieder on it. This card has been the most iconic card of Ripken’s career. He spent his entire career with the Orioles. He also broke the consecutive games played record of 2,130 games set by Lou Gehrig in 1939 on September 19, 1998. He is commonly referred to as the “Ironman” since breaking the streak. His streak in currently at 2,632. He was selected to Cooperstown in 2007. This is a must have for any Ripken collector.
