Your notes will come in a sleeve. (STAND NOT INCLUDED) Star notes are an excellent way to get into collecting! Star Notes or Replacement Notes are a result of a mistake made on the BEP's (Bureau of Engraving & Printing) Half. When notes are printed mistakes happen. So what the BEP does is shred the mistaken notes and then print new notes that have stars on them to signify that they have "REPLACED" the errored bills. That is where the name "Replacement Note" comes from. about 97% of collectors call them Star Notes (including myself). Every Series from 2021 and back has star notes. (Sadly for the $1 bill it is they will not be producing any more star notes after series 2021, due to the fact that they are switching over to a new printing process called "NS-LEPE" which stands for "NON SEQUENTIAL LARGE EXAMINING & PRINTING EQUIPMENT") There are multiple ways to collect star notes but one of the easiest and best ways is to collect examples from every print run! There are two different types of star note printings. Sheet and Pack notes. Sheet notes are more rare than packnotes because they get printed less often. The only way to tell the difference between a Sheet & Pack Note is tell reference either the BEP's production reports, or a Guide. (All the guides on the internet are just recompositions of the BEP's production reports, because the BEP is the only place to get paper money info.) Most Pack note runs are 3.2 Million notes in size. Some pack note runs can be as low as 500K which is more rare and hence more expensive. As you start to venture into star note collecting you will quickly begin to see that some star notes are very hard to find. These hard to find notes are due to the fact that the Print Rate is so low! The rarest modern sheet star notes are both found in the $10 Denomination. They are the Series 1999 BE 1.2 Print of only 3,200 and the Series 2004A GF 1 Print of 9,600. THESE ARE VERY LOW PRINTS. Those notes would fetch a high premium even potentially into the Thousands of Dollars! With all these being said. The most fun way to collect star notes is to have examples from every print run that the BEP has produced. That goes deeper than just having one star note from every series. Having examples from every run means having notes from every series, every district within a series, and every print within the district that is within a specific series. Some districts have only 1 star note run while some districts in a particular series could have 9, that's the beauty of collecting and the beauty of the hunt! MORE INFO ON SHEET VS PACK If you have made it this far into the description I commend you for taking interest in the way our country's beautiful paper money is made! Here is how sheet and pack notes are made. When errors are found they are taken off the press and put into the shredder to be either sold in the BEP gift shop (Yes you can buy shreds of US Paper money in a bag) or sent off to be turned into compost (US Paper money is made up of cotton and linen) It is important to note that the BEP does note print bills 1 by 1 but actually either 32 or 50 notes at a time on 32 Subject or 50 subject sheets. If an error is found after the Subject sheet has been stamped with a serial number but before they are cut into single notes, then the entire sheet of either 32 or 50 notes is pulled off the line and shredded and in its place they will put an entire sheet of $1 Uncut Star notes! Hence the name SHEET STAR NOTE! If the errors are found after the star note has made it to the cutting and packing process the entire PACK (A pack is 100 notes of any denomination) is taken off the line and shredded and then replaced with a PACK of 100 Star notes. Hence the name PACK NOTE. Sheet notes are printed less than pack notes which is why they are harder to find. Not only this, but usually when you find sheet notes out in the wild you find only 1 - 5. Sometimes you can find more, but not usually. Happy Collecting! Same day Free shipping along with 60 day money back guaranteed returns on every item in my store!
