Description: This is a Newcomb Macklin (style) frame around a beautiful oil on Canvas Venetian Canal Scene. The oil is signed but not legible to me. It needs cleaning and 5 mostly small holes repaired, but it has hung on my walls about 10 years as is. The frame is 22.5 inches by 17.5 inches on the outside edges. The inside measurement would be 20 inches by 15.25 inches. The holes are scattered with one in the sky, one in the water, one on the tower and the last two on the other buildings. I bought it at an estate auction, so I don't know its age. I assume the greatest interest is in the frame, but both are nice. The frame back has fragile black paper covering any numbers or writing that would be expected on a Macklin frame. My bias is that it's the real thing, but I'll let you investigate. I'm just doing a major rehanging of my wall space, and you can take advantage of my lack of storage and laziness. I can tell you the holes in the canvas don't show up hanging on my wall. But the colors and shadowing on the art look like the work of a highly trained artist to me. Study the pictures. They tell you more than I can. Note the partial label on the back says this was framed in Newark. Isn't that near where the Newcomb Macklin frames were produced? Email if you have questions. If it seems too much, name your price and make that offer. You might get a steal! THE SMALL PRINT... The buyer pays shipping. I ship quickly because I like to be paid quickly. 08-24
