First Edition / First Printing / Second state with corrections made and third state portrait frontis without the cloth under the bust of Twain. (BAL 3415). Title page shows 1885 and copyright page shows 1884 and printed by J.J. Little & Co., New York. Featuring 174 black and white illustrations throughout by Edward W. Kemble. Condition: 8vo. 366 pages - Publishers' Green cloth boards with titles and decorations stamped in black and gilt. Edgewear with corners bumped and rubbed and spine tips softened with some fraying to the cloth. There are with a few spots to the back cover. The binding is tight, secure, square with light yellowing throughout the book but no foxing. There are no indications of the binding and all pages are secure, except the top edge of the tissue over the bust of Twain. This is a beautiful edition and one to have in your collection when the cost of the 1/1 state is out of reach.
