Description: Used, good physical condition Alienware Area-51M 'Extreme' gaming laptop in gloss Conspiracy Blue equipped with a 3.40 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor, NVIDIA GeForce Go FX 5700 graphics card, 128GB SSD and 1GB of RAM. The laptop is strictly sold as for parts or advanced repair only due to not being able to successfully install an operating system. Physically, this Area-51m is in good overall condition considering its age with minor to moderate signs of wear and use to the exterior of the laptop. The display lid and bottom cover of the laptop have surface scratches and scuffs from use. The rearward portion of the bottom case has some splits in the plastic near the vents and I/O ports. The interior of the laptop like the palmrest, keyboard and display are in excellent condition with no significant signs of wear. Functionally, this Alienware is not fully operational and should be considered as for parts or advanced repair only. The system will boot to the BIOS setup menu but refuses to install any operating system like Windows XP or Windows Vista through USB with Blue Screen of Death stop codes of 0x0000007B and 0xc000000e respectively. A known-good installation of Windows XP on a separate hard disk will momentarily boot and then experience the aforementioned BSOD. Linux has been able to boot off a USB stick but has not been installed or checked for proper operation. Further functions of the laptop cannot be tested or guaranteed due to not being able to install an operating system. The computer may have other unknown hardware or software flaws that cannot be tested for. The original Alienware battery has charged and will run on its battery power but battery life, health and usage time is unknown. The function of the optical drive is unknown; expect to use a USB optical drive to test installation of an operating system. An internal 128GB M.2 SATA SSD is installed in the computer and mounted on an IDE-to-SATA converter board. The processor has fresh ARCTIC MX-4 thermal paste. This original Alienware relic predates Dell's acquisition of the company and is exceedingly hard to find. With the right expertise and knowledge, this Alien could be restored to its former glory as a piece of gaming and Alienware history.
