Description: This leather hat box has a silk plush top hat stowed inside, which once belonged to Captain P. W. Leycester of the British Army. This gorgeous set was made by Cuthbertson of London. Captain P. W. Leycester served throughout WWI and in Crimea. The hat box has Captain Leycester's name embossed on the hat box handle. The leather band inside of the hat has his initials perforated into the leather. The inside of the leather hat box is lined with quilted red silk. The inside of the box is in beautiful clean condition, with little wear. Beautiful floral detailing on the brass hardware. Hat is in beautiful condition as well. The outside of the box has expected wear and remnants of postage stamps from when you could ship things as is, with no box! This gorgeous set was made in the early 1900s.Box measures approximately: 14” long x 12 1/2” wide x 10 5/8” high.
