Description: Wonderful handmade beaded boot pin cushions were made during the late 19th century by the Iroquois and sometimes the Mohawk tribes. These beaded pieces were referred to as whimsy items. Tourists would purchase from the tribal stands and shops as souvenir's in New York state and southern Canada. Often sold at popular tourist attractions like Niagara Falls. The boot shape was a popular Victorian symbol. This boot pin cushion has survived over the years with minimal loss of fabric as shown in photos. Bead work is still flawless. The beaded dangles on the bottom of boot are intact and complete. The backside is somewhat dirty but there are no rips or holes.It looks as though a previous owner attached a thread at the top of boot in order to easily hang the pin cushion.This is a great piece of history and a fantastic collectors item.Measures approximately 6 inches tall and 4 inches wide at the toe to heel. It is obvious that a lot of work went into creating this unusual momento.
