Description: ANTIQUE VINTAGE BLACK OSTRICH FEATHER FOLDING LADIES FAN TORTOISE CELLULOID BASE This fan belonged to my grandmother or great-grandmother and dates back to at least the late 1800s or early 1900s. My great-grandmother was from Germany and traveled Europe quite a bit and my grandmother was from New York, so it's either from Europe or New York. It was found in an old steamer trunk when my grandfather passed away in 1988, but his daughter (my 91 year old aunt) held onto it and kept it stored for all these years. It measures 12", when closed, from bottom of handle to top of feathers. When fan is opened, it measures approximately 19" wide. There is a missing feather (broken off), as well as a feather that has been broken from the base, but I still have the feather. Fan opens and closes fine. It's very old and delicate, but a beautiful piece! See photos for details on condition.
