Description: Battleship Bismarck: A Design and Operational History by William Garzke, Robert Dulin, and William Jurens with James Cameron, 2019, 1st edition/1st printing. This new book on Bismarck offers a forensic analysis of the design, operation and loss of Germany s greatest battleship and draws on survivors accounts and the authors combined decades of experience in naval architecture and command at sea. Their investigation into every aspect of this battleship has taken fifty-six years of painstaking research, during which time they conducted extensive interviews and corresponded with the ship s designers and the survivors of the battle of the Denmark Strait and Bismarck s final battle. Albert Schnarke, for instance, the former gunnery officer of Tirpitz, Bismarck s sister ship, aided the authors greatly by translating and supplying manuscript materials from those who had participated in the design and operations. Survivors of Bismarck s engagements contributed to this comprehensive study including D B H Wildish, RN, damage control officer aboard HMS Prince of Wales, who located photographs of battle damage to his ship. After the wreck of Bismarck was discovered in June 1989, the authors served as technical consultants to Dr Robert Ballard, who led three trips to the site. Film maker and explorer James Cameron has contributed a chapter, which gives the reader a comprehensive overview of his deep-sea explorations on Bismarck and it is illustrated with his team s remarkable photographs of the wreck. The result of nearly six decades of research and collaboration, this new work is an engrossing and encyclopaedic account of the events surrounding one of the most epic naval battles of World War Two. And Battleship Bismarck finally resolves some of the major questions around her career, not least the most profound one of all: Who sank the Bismarck, the British or the Germans?, Battleship Bismarck is a marine forensics analysis and engineering study of the design, operation, and loss of Germany's greatest battleship, drawing on survivors' accounts and the authors' combined decades of experience in naval architecture and command at sea. The investigation has covered fifty-six years of painstaking research, during which the authors conducted extensive interviews and correspondence with the ship's designers and survivors of the Battle of Denmark Strait and Bismarck's final battle. Book is in Very Good+ condition with very little wear and some shelf wear due to the book's massive size (see pictures). Covers and pages are square, clean, bright, and unmarked. Binding is sound. Book has clearly not been read much if at all, just stored and moved around. Dust jacket has a little edge wear due to the weight of the book. Please see pictures as they are considered part of the condition description. I take numerous photos of the actual item and describe it as accurately as I can so you don't have to risk your buying decision on stock photos and generic condition descriptions. A portion of this sale goes to the Second Harvest Food Bank in Northwest North Carolina in honor of my father-in-law who was a director of a food bank. Many people experience hunger on a regular basis and they rely on food banks. The destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina has made their situation worse. Thank you for supporting them with your purchase. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED: If you are unhappy with any aspect of this transaction, please contact me immediately. I will work hard to keep buyers happy and to resolve the rare problem promptly. QUALITY PACKAGING: I care about your purchase! I package books and DVDs protected in plastic sleeves for water protection and wrapped carefully for safe and secure shipping. There are cheaper, easier, and faster ways to package items for shipping but the risk of damage during shipment is not worth it for you or me. I am proud of the specific positive feedback I have received related to packaging, accurate descriptions, and customer care. USPS MEDIA MAIL: I ship books and DVDs by USPS media mail. Media mail is generally reasonably fast, but can rarely take up to 8 days, so please be patient. Shipping outside of the U.S. is handled by the eBay Global Shipping program. I ship to the eBay international shipping clearing house in Kentucky and eBay takes it from there. eBay adds on the extra cost for international shipping and I have no control over that cost or how long it takes. eBay should give you a shipping estimate/total on the listing page for your particular order. POSITIVE FEEDBACK: If you believe you would be happy to purchase something from me again in the future, please consider leaving me positive feedback for this purchase as it really helps small eBay sellers like me. I leave feedback for buyers once they have posted feedback for me. Let's do this together! Enjoy!
