Description: This is a custom 12" figure commemorating a real American hero of the Old West, Baz "Bass" Reeves. Reeves was a deputy US Marshal in the old Indian Territory for over thirty years. In the early days this territory was overrun with outlaws. Reeves was sent to go through the Indian Territory and gather up criminals to be tried in Judge Parker's court in Fort Smith. Bass would sometimes be gone for months, often on his own gathering hardcases charged with bootlegging to murder. Reeves would sometimes collect thousands of dollars in fees from these arrests. Reeves normally got his man and was relentless in upholding the law. Bass Reeves was never afraid to face a man he was after. One such occasion resulted in Reeves being arrested for murder. He shot and killed a man that he was trying to arrest. The court battle was a bitter one, maybe the toughest fight of his life. Reeves was eventually acquitted due to a witness' testimony but the trial had taken most of his money. Baz "Bass" Reeves was one of the bravest American heroes that ever lived. Figure designed mainly for display purposes for the wild west fan. Please note that while this figure does not look exactly like Baz "Bass" Reeves, there is a bit of a resemblance. This would make a nice addition to any collection. bandana is custom made and may not be cut perfect on the edge (I am no seamstress) but displays nicely. sold as is.
