Description: Auction for vintage WW2 Belgian Resistance medal, photos, document and Lebel Bayonet group to 2Lt DePboert. Card is in Flemish (Dutch) French (Walloon). DePboert was a Belgian resistance fighter in the intelligence services. He fled Belgium at the beginning of the war and was later dropped into Belgium. He participated in the active resistance as a member of the underground. He earned the Belgian 1940-1945 Commemorative medal with crossed lightning flashes indicating his service in the Intelligence Section. I believe he was a 2nd Lieutenant of Artillery. Requires more research to learn about his service before, during, and after the war. Finding a grouping to a member of the intelligence service of any nation is not very easy.1. Card for Federation of the Resistance. Card is dated 1946. Has DePboert's last name, address. If my translation is correct he was part of the "underground socialist party." He is also listed as a member of the active resistance. Card issued by authorities in Brussels. Has photo of DePboert on card. Card shows use. Has fold lines, tear at top of fold. 2. Belgian WW2 Commemorative medal 1940-1945 with crossed lightning bolts. Established 16 Feb 1945, it was designed to recognize members of the Belgian Armed Forces, Resistance, Merchant Marine and foreign recipients of the Belgian Croix de Guerre who served during WW2. The crossed lightning bolts indicate service in the Intelligence services as a member of the armed resistance.3. Photo of DePboert in Belgian paratroop gear. Photo is approximately 9" x 7" in size. Nice photo of DePboert in British Para helmet, and jump overalls/smock. Presumeably taken during training.4. Photo of DePboert in uniform. Photo is approximately 11 1/2" x 9 1/2" in size. Shows DePboert in dress uniform. He looks to be wearing the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He has an Artillery badge on. This could be a post war photo.5. Shortened Rosalie Lebel Bayonet (without scabbard) used by DePboert. It was explained that he took this off a RAD member he dispatched and used it for self defense. It is a cut down, shortened version approximately 13" long with the manufacturer C.F mark on it. The tip is bent. Bayonet shows age.Medal shows normal wear/tear associated with age. Document also shows normal wear/tear associated witha age/use. Document has fold lines. Toning of document with age. Photos show some edge bumps and toning with age.
