Description: For sale is a wonderful classic reverse glass painting of the infamous RMS Titanic luxury liner, which hit an iceberg on April 14, 1912 and sank into the north Atlantic after midnight along with over 1500 passengers The legend of the Titanic grew in the decades after its sinking, and has now become a symbol of greed, wealth, carelessness and certaintly classism as many of those who perished were among the lower class passengers who were unable to find a lifeboat to take them to safety on that most dreadful night. This painting features the titanic motoring along in all her glory passing by a large iceberg. The painting is very symbolic and does not intend to depict the actual icebergs that sink the Titanic. As we know, the titanic was struck on her starboard side, and this painting reflects the titanic, cruising past the icebergs on her port sude. The painting is framed in a lovely Reid guilt frame, which was probably painted over in the 40s or 50s at some point. The frame being an overall good condition with only a couple of chips here and there. See pictures. The painting with some losses as is expected on these 100 year-old reverse glass paintings. With some losses to the corners as noted as well as some loss to one of the peaks on one of the icebergs. All noted in our detailed close-up pictures. Please see all pictures for consideration.
