This fast flying driver has an ultra-thick rim (2.5cm) and maintains maximum speed for a long time. While this disc is ultra-fast, it is relatively stable for power throwers and had a Discraft stability rating of just 1.6. The Nuke is available in all the plastics Discraft makes. Definitely my favorite mold in my bag in terms of shape. After throwing this for a few months, the nuke does a slight hyzer flip up and turn that goes out to ~450 feet. Not my favorite mold for forehand, but it still bombs! Mortbry Mortbry (Review Participant, L2, Advanced) Oct 21 2021 8:37AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-0.5/3.5Not Beginner Friendly This is my go to distance driver! I love how consistent it is. It will always fade to the right after every throw. I especially love it for flex lines that finish hard right! Overall, a great disc and it's great in wind. Lukas Lukas (Review Fanatic, L6, Advanced) Sep 2 2021 8:52PM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3Terrible for Beginners This is in my opnion the bombiest disc there is. Simply put if you got the arm to yauch this thing it will GO. Highly recommend for someone that has got 400+ arm to give this a shot. I prefer it in ESP and that is usually what I throw it in, never used Tour Series Z but that is th only option to select here. If you have anything below that power don't worry about trying this, go for something that is more US. Also its called the Nuke, not many cooler named discs than that. shane hughes shane hughes (Reader, Intermediate) Jul 9 2021 7:41AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/4Neutral This disc absolutely bombs, it is more overstable than i expected but you put it on anhizer and it will go forever JJanik12 JJanik12 (Reader, Beginner) Jun 15 2021 7:30AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3N/A I'm a primary forehand player and this is my favorite drive. Gets me my max distance, and it feels great in the hand. ESP plastic has been pretty durable, as I've nailed some trees at pretty high velocity and the flight path has remained true so far after several months of very frequent playing Jade Dudoward Jade Dudoward (Reviewer Class 5, Intermediate) Jun 10 2021 12:08PM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-2/3Not Beginner Friendly The Nuke is one of the best drivers on the market. If you have the arm speed for a 13-speed disc, you will be greatly rewarded with the distance these can bring. I have found that across all plastics, the Nuke has more turn than indicated. This makes it a little touchy into headwinds on a flat release, but a headwind bomber with a little hyzer. I would not recommend the nuke to most people for forehands as speed 13 does take a toll on your elbow to throw. Jack Miles Jack Miles (Reader, Beginner) Apr 9 2021 10:10AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3Neutral It's honestly the only disc you need. LoganE LoganE (Review Participant, L2, Beginner) Apr 7 2021 4:12PM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3Neutral I use this disc for my power shots. It's fairly overstable but not too much. The z-line feels really good in my hand and it doesn't slip out of my hands like other plastics do. Also a really good forehand disc. Pablo Pablo (Review Enthusiast, L4, Intermediate) Mar 8 2021 2:03PM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3Not Beginner Friendly I found this disc (unmarked) on a course and have been throwing it ever since. As someone who maxes out at ~350 (averaging around 325ft), this disc is a little too much for me for normal everyday use, however I find that I am able to throw it well into a headwind and that is my primary use for this disc. It is very flat topped and feels good to throw. The Z-plastic has superb durability, second to none, and the neon yellow color is easy to pick out anywhere on the course. As someone who struggles with nose angle control, this disc often stalls out on me if I throw it a little nose up, however when I do get the nose down, this disc glides for what feels like forever. If I were ever to need to replace this disc, I would likely look into the Nuke SS, as it seems like it would fit my needs and arm a little better. Wouldn't recommend for beginners, but likely is suitable for intermediate + players. Ted Mosher Ted Mosher (Review Participant, L2, Intermediate) Mar 2 2021 3:15PM My Flight Ratings 13/4.5/-0.5/3Terrible for Beginners This is becoming a reliable overstable driver. In windier conditions this is becoming a go-to for me but it's a bit beefier than I can comfortably throw on most courses. I need a ball-golf style course to use this disc! Christian Volcic Christian Volcic (Reader, Advanced) Jan 4 2021 6:51AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3Not Beginner Friendly A staple in my bag, but definitely not for everyone. Overstable to say the least, an above average arm is highly recommended because it will dump if you cannot power past the 13 speed. Max weight will hold the hyzer lines better in my opinion and lower weights will definitely be considered bombers (425+ feet). If you have not tried one, you need to try it. Sound of Silence Putting Sound of Silence Putting (Reviewer Class 5, Intermediate) Dec 23 2020 6:30AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1.5/3Not Beginner Friendly I have an ESP Nuke which I throw for most of my max distance shots. It is fairly new, but it has been beat in a little bit. I have found this disc to be ever so slightly less stable than advertised. I can hyzer-flip it backhand for 400-425 max with no wind, but into a headwind this thing will turn forever (not flip vertical, just fly with an extended turn). Forehand, it is decent, flying for maybe 350 to 360 max, but I prefer to flick fairways most of the time if I can. However, I have found an unexpected use for this disc: max distance sky rollers. Thrown on a huge anhyzer angle high into the air, this will find its way to the ground on decent cut angle and, because it has good late stability to it, it will ride on that angle for days before it curls up and settles down. I quite like this disc, and while there are other distance drivers on the market that I like a lot, the Nuke can certainly hold its own against them. Sammyy03 Sammyy03 (Reviewer Elite L9, Intermediate) Nov 14 2020 12:30AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3Terrible for Beginners I throw the ESP plastic Nuke and it was the first distance driver from Discraft I picked up. I thought I was stronger than I actually was at that point and struggled with it. I learned fairly quickly this disc wasn't for me and it got set aside. As I started doing research and learning more about the sport I was able to tune up my technique and build some actual throwing power and started loving this disc. It feels amazing in my hand with a nice wide rim that I really feel I can get a grip on and just rip it. This disc quickly became my go to distance driver for a long time (until I got my hands on a Force). this disc is definitely going to be more overstable for a great many players due to the high speed and fact it is overstable anyways. Unless you have advanced level throwing power I wouldn't recommend throwing this. I have a good friend I play with that uses a Nuke and I can easily out distance him with a midrange when we play a casual round because his Nuke just hyzers out. Pick this up after several years of playing and when you have the technique and power to throw it. If you wait for the right time this disc will be an absolute bomber in your bag and you will enjoy watching the disc soar down the fairway. For me it is a great disc and I can get a great flight out of it. it will have a home in my bag for many years to come. RJC3213 RJC3213 (Reviewer Elite L9, Professional) Oct 23 2020 11:25AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1.5/3Not Beginner Friendly I own a lot of Nukes and I can say it is one of if not the farthest flying disc on the market. The ESP plastic in particular with the the dome are great for straight to slightly overstable flight paths. However if you don't have the arm speed these will not get enough turn to really get you down the fairway. I would highly recommend to players that have 400+ power and are looking to reach the next level. Carlos rodriguez Carlos rodriguez (Reader, Beginner) Oct 11 2020 2:27AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3Neutral I may not have the arm speed for the nuke yet, but with some practice I'm sure I'll get there. For now as someone that's only played for about a year I like this disc for big hyzer shots with a skip around the 280-320 distance. It's a great utility disc if I'm going to a course that ask for such lines. Murf Murf (Review Grand Master, L13, Advanced) Sep 25 2020 6:56AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3Not Beginner Friendly RHBH: the new swirly ESP is soft and grippy with some dome. It is not as turn resistant as previous runs but it is NOT flippy by any means. It has slight turn, straight flight, then hard fade. This nuke has a bit more glide than previous runs FOREHAND: I LOVE A WIDE RIM for my FH shots. The nuke will turn a bit and then fade at low speed. For FOREHAND shots it goes far. DarthMcVader DarthMcVader (Reviewer Class 5, Intermediate) Sep 21 2020 7:53PM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3Not Beginner Friendly Honestly, this is a solid distance driver. If you need to find a driver that you can put all of your power into and not be afraid of a cut roll or a huge turnover shank, then the Nuke in Big Z could be your answer. There are honestly quite a few discs that can do the job of the Nuke, but there is a level of comfort that the Nuke has in my hand that I can't really find with other discs. I have rather big hands to start with, so the large rim of the Nuke feels really secure for me. If you have a rather slow arm speed, then I would still recommend getting this disc in a lighter weight so you can utilize it for flex shots and hyzer flips once it gets beat in. Paul Ulibarri and other Discraft pros bag this disc for their "bomber" driver, and now I can see why! Give this driver a chance and you may be pleasantly surprised! David Beck David Beck (Review Participant, L2, Advanced) Aug 21 2020 7:30AM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3Neutral Absolutely love the Nuke discs. Lately it's been a toss up of using the Z Line or ESP plastics. Both have their advantages and I tend to keep both in my bag. Have been throwing these discs for 10 years and can say it's hands down the best disc series I've found. The shot shape can be a little tricky for beginners but if you have the forehand shot this disc is a must in my opinion. I almost always throw forehand on my drives and land consistently between the 350-400 foot mark. All around great disc. Connor Fess Connor Fess (Review Supporter, L3, Intermediate) Aug 10 2020 6:22PM My Flight Ratings 13/5/-1/3.5Somewhat Beginner Friendly The nuke was my first ace disc and one of my older discs that has never been set aside anytime I go to get a round of disc golf in. The flight numbers are perfect and people with the arm strength should be able to launch this thing.
