Description: This is a decorative reproduction, likely from the late-19th or early-20th century, of an engraving of George Washington. The name of the original piece is "His Excellency George Washington, Esq-r., General and Commander in Chief of the Allied Armies, Supporting the Independence of America," and it was made on March 26, 1782. The original engraver is John Norman (American (born England), ca. 1748-1817, Boston, Mass.). He engraved it after a pastel by Benjamin Blyth (American, Salem, Mass. 1746-1811 Zanesville, Ohio), who did his pastel after Charles Willson Peale (American, Chester, Maryland 1741-1827, Philadelphia, Penn.) This decorative reproduction has writing on the back that says, "Live Engraving by John Norman." Please see the photos for the condition of the piece.
