Handsome Vintage Zanesville Stoneware Co. Early Cabinet Bowl #E11 Matte Green

Description: Featured in this auction is a beautiful, vintage cabinet bowl or mini jardiniere made by Zanesville Stoneware Co. (ZSC). This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs; however, there are tiny glaze drips, pops and pinholes on the piece along with minor grinding nicks and slivers on the unglazed base. There are also tiny glaze drips inside. This piece is just over 2" tall, 4-3/4" wide at the flared rim, and 4-1/4" wide at the mouth. The base of the pottery is stamped only with a raised mark, the shape number E11, and was most likely produced by ZSC in the 1930s. It is pictured in the ZSC reference guide "Zanesville Stoneware Company" by Rans, Ralston and Russell in the "Matte Green" section. This cabinet bowl features a beautiful arts-and-crafts design with a single, horizontal band encircling the body and a series of stylized "shields" emanating from the flared rim. This stunning glaze is a rich, matte cucumber-green color that creates a beautiful textured appearance. The piece is presumed to have been gently used but is very clean overall.
