Description: Hardy Boys - The Mystery of the Chinese Junk (#39). This is the first printing of the picture cover edition (1962). It has a suggested retail price box (srpb, $1 box) on the front cover and an internal list listing to volume #41 distinguishing it from subsequent printings. Hardy Boys books are widely collected, including the first printings of picture covers in the series. This book would be a great addition to a collection! The story is about Frank and Joe buying a Chinese junk (named the Hai Hau) with their friends to make money during the summer. However, it turns out the boat had been stolen in Hong Kong and thought to harbor hidden treasure. Also, they run into trouble from another excursion boat operator. The book is in very good condition. There is minor wear and scuffing on the covers and spine. There is slight age related discoloration on the external page edges. The binding is intact but slightly loose - resulting in some spine creasing. Other minor issues include an original price sticker on the front endpaper, and a penciled inscription on the front title page. None of these issues affect the text or illustrations. See pictures for specifics.
