To lock turn left and turn right to unlock. Lock is very stiff so you will need to be gentle. To remove key you will have to wiggle and fiddle with the key by turning a whole right turn but don't force it. You will have to work with it as it is very stiff. I was able to get the mechanism to lock and unlock but not easily and removing the key is hard but you can wiggle and fidget it out. May need oil.
