The ladle has rather curved handle ending with a wide flat portion having a rounded end. The end of the handle is marked on the back with the word "BRITANNIA" followed by two additional marks which we cannot figure out. The ladle also has what we would characterize a shallow bowl which is ~3 1/4" in diameter and is ~1" deep. The ladle has a nice warm gray age patina with a few dark spots, some minor scratches and a few small dings to the bowl. The ladle also has some small surface cracks here and there along the curved handle. There are also a few stains and some soiling especially in the bowl. Be that as it may, this a nice piece worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Unknown, but most likely late 1800s (Late 19th century). Origin: Purchased in Southeast Pennsylvania, USA. Size: The ladle Measure ~12 1/2" in length with the bowl measuring ~3 1/4" in diameter on the top and is ~1" deep. The end of the handle is ~3 1/2" long and is ~1" at its widest. The piece weighs about 6 ounces. Maker: Unknown. Marks: Stamped on the back of the handle in the flat end "BRITANNIA" followed by two additional marks which we cannot figure out.
