Description: Pelikan 400NN Fountain Pen - Beautiful Tortoise Color - 14K 585 Bold Nib Pelikan made the 400NN in Tortoise from 1956 to 1965 which makes this pen some 65 years old. The color of this pen is a nice brown/amber. It writes very well and a sample of this pen's writing is shown in the photos. To me, this nib has a bit of a stub feel as I noticed the downstrokes were wider than the cross strokes. Very cool. The ink flow from this bold nib is smooth and to my eye, the line width is more of a medium look. I did not notice any hard starts, skipping or other issues. For the writing sample, Pelikan Edelstein Ink was used and then the pen was cleaned using Goulet Pen Flush. In my opinion, this vintage pen writes better than most modern pens. Many people feel that the 400NN is one of the better writing fountain pens available at any age or cost! It has that great Pelikan piston filling mechanism. The pen measures some 5.14" in length when closed and 5.78" when posted. Its diameter is 0.46" and the ink capacity is 1.97ml. Please study the photos for best description of product and condition. Neither the Pelikan Ceramic Pen Stand nor the Acrylic Pen Stand are included. As a long time collector of vintage fountain pens, I take great care in shipping using new boxes and quality packaging material.
