Description: Photograph Notes: The home of the Wallace Collection. It was built as Manchester House in the late 18th century for the 4th Duke of Manchester and was soon after acquired by the 2nd Marquess of Hertford. The 4th Marquess used the then named Hertford House as a store for his art collection and in 1871 his illegitimate son, Richard Wallace moved here with his Parisian collection.
