Description: Red Sovine - Teddy Bear - 70s Country / Trucker / Spoken Word SD-989 VG Very much an album that could only have come out in 1976. Red Sovine presents his unique combination of trucker country / gospel / spoken word. The highlight of the album is the title track is one of Sovine's sentimental monologues, telling the story of a trucker who speaks to a "little crippled boy" over his CB who is mourning the recent death of his father and misses riding in his father's 18 wheeler. After hearing the tear-jerking story, the child gives the trucker his address over the open airwaves (Do not do this at home) and the trucker drives there to join a long line of 18-wheelers waiting to take the child for a ride. There is probably no other time in history besides 1976 when this song could have stayed at #1 in the Billboard Country Charts for five weeks, but in 1976 at the height of the CB radio craze that's exactly what happened. Also worth noting is "1460 Elder Street," the tale of a man haunted by guilt after inadvertently getting his mistress' husband killed in Viet Nam. Let's call it a unique piece of music history. Album is in VG condition. Plays well with occasional noise. Sleeve is in Good condition. Noticeable dic impression, scuffing on top of sleeve and some slight warping.
