Nothing, however, could have been further from the truth. There is an old adage - never write off a band until the fat lady sings. And for REO Speedwagon, historically always the underdogs, fuelled only by unswerving optimism, this was to be their finest hour. Faced with possible extinction if they were unable to come up with the goods for album eleven, they hunkered down, refocused and constructed a record every bit as accessible as ‘Hi Infidelity’. Armed with better songs and a do or die attitude the results were spectacular. ‘Wheels Are Turning’, originally issued in 1984, was an unqualified success, going platinum several times over and producing two bonafide hit singles in ‘One Lonely Knight’ and the blockbusting number one, ‘Can’t Fight This Feeling’.
