Description: With the upcoming release of new Weltronlids, we are pleased to announce that the re-engineeredhinges are now back in stock Weltron GEC 2005 and 2007 lid reproduction hinge Now available - a complete replacement for the original five GEC/Weltron hinge components namely the hinge, its 2 end brackets and those 2 very strong and hard to get hinge springs This is not simply a recreation of the original GEC/Weltron hinge parts but is a new and novel copyrighted design, made from 3D printed plastic that doesn't use any strong springs and is therefore very low stress on the 50+ year old plastic top cover of the GEC/Weltron, but is also strong enough to hold the lid up at a perfect angle The hinge will work with the original lids and also the reproduction Weltron lids made by Chromium in the USA Features: 1. no springs and no stress on the original top cover. 90% of stress force is absorbed within the hinge and not passed onto the top cover 2. fits with just 4 screws into the original hinge bracket holes 3. doesn't require ANY modification to the original GEC/Weltron so it can easily be removed and put back to original 4. works without needing the often crumbling hinge spring anchors 5. holds up the heavier reproduction acrylic lids 6. Each hinge takes around 5 hours to print via a 3D printer and it is made of multiple parts with the stress lines in different planes for maximum strength. EVERY hinge is tested on a test rig before being shipped 7. the hinge part is lighter than the original hinge and this again reduces stress on the top cover and offsets the slightly heavier reproduction lids 8. has been tested with over 1000 open/close actions (2000 movements in all) without any degradation in quality or functionality 9. is a result of 4 months of extensive product development with over 60 design iterations prior to finalisation. Patent protection has now been applied for 10. Warranty. If the hinge fails within 12 months simply send the hinge back (so we can analyse the failure to allow future enhancement to the design) and we'll replace the part(s) and mail it back free of charge.
