Image is perfect. Tinted signature border is perfect. The print does have some “edge rash” along both the top and bottom white border. I have included a few pictures to show some of the “edge rash”. When you first pick up the print, you probably won’t notice it, but if you search for it you will notice it. Not a perfect copy, unfortunately, but an ideal copy for framing since the matting will cover the white border and everything on display is in perfect condition. Sadly, a lineup of signatures like this has not been possible for decades. The artwork is exceptional. Extremely emotive - you can see the stress on the pilots’ faces. The sunset sky is simply amazing. One of Taylor’s very best prints. Robert Taylor’s evocative painting depicts a nail-biting drama in the Solomons during the great struggle for air supremacy in 1943. Marine Corps F4F wildcats and F4U Corsairs have fought a bitter air battle. Weary from the contest, the pilots head back to base. An F4F Wildcat has been raked across its fuselage by gunfire, taking out the radio and puncturing an oil pipe. The pilot is injured but in control, and thus far has been able to maintain speed and altitude. His CO and wingman have closed in to give support, but with land in sight the F4F has started to trail smoke. From here on in it is courage, determination, and luck that will bring this Marine pilot back to fight another day. What is shown in the pictures is what you will receive.
