Issued in 31 series of 8 cards each between the years 1986 and 2002, production was limited to just 999 metal cards of the first 248 inductees, each measuring 2-1/2" by 3-1/2". This card is an exact replica of the member's official *Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame plaque. Like the better known National Baseball Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame metal cards, the back of this card is blank. *James Naismith is credited with inventing the game of basketball in 1891. The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame was established at Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1959. Presently, more than 400 members are honored there.
