Description: Stories of The Old Santa Fe Trail, Inman, Henry, Ramsey, Millett & Hudson, Kansas City, Mo., 1881Ist Edition, 1st State. We are please to offer this volume, inscribed by the author, which depicts the adventures and hardships endured by those who travelled the Santa Fe Trail in search of opportunities and riches. The Santa Fe Trail was used primarily from the 1840's through the 1880's as a route of commerce between Missouri and the territory of New Mexico(n.b. Wiki). The author himself was a buffalo hunter, civil war officer and Indian scout. He was wounded in battle during the Civil War but recovered and resumed his service to the US military as a scout, he rose to the rank of Colonel. He was a close friend of Buffalo Bill Cody and was a member of the travelling show (Thrapp Pg. 704) . This book provides a brief history of the trail and the major events that occurred, including some of the authors exploits.
