You're looking at a COMPLETE Three Volume Set of Books and a beautiful COMPLETE and UNABRIDGED history of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire written by EDWARD GIBBON--the books were all three published by The Modern Library and are Modern Library Giant Series G6, G7 and G8 and were most likely published between the 1940s and the late 1960s; the books are all HARDCOVER copies with the ORIGINAL DUSTJACKETS and are NOT remainder copies, with no prices on the inner flaps of Volumes Two and Three and a clipped upper corner of the front inner flap of Volume One. These three books are in SUPERB condition and all three have very light age spots / foxing in spots on the upper page edge, an owner's name plate and tiny name stamp on the front pages of the books, slight shelfwear on the cloth covers and slight evidence of gentle browsing, and very light shelfwear on the dustjackets; Volume One has a slight discolored spot on the BACK surface of the bottom edge and bottom spine tip of the front surface (NOT visible on the front surface) and light dings and tiny tears on the spine and opening tips; Volume Two has a tiny puncture tear on the lower left edge of the front surface, light dings and a couple of tiny tears on the spine tips, a small, very light discolored spot on the center left edge and front center spine edge of the front surface, light dustwear on the upper back cover and a tiny bookstore sticker on the upper left corner of the front inner flap; Volume Three has a clipped upper corner of the front inner flap, slight dings on the spine tips and a light horizontal scuff on the center of the back surface. The books are titled The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire: Complete and Unabridged in Three Volumes (Volume One: The History of the Empire from 180 A.D. to 395 A.D.; Volume Two: The History of the Empire from A.D. 395 to A.D. 1185; and Volume Three: The History of the Empire from A.D. 1185 to the Fall of Constantine in 1453 and they were written by EDWARD GIBBON; they were published by Random House in the Modern Library Giant Series as # G6, G7 and G8 and publication dates are not stated, but they were published between the 1940s and late 1960s.Edward Gibbon's six-volume History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire (1776-88) is among the most magnificent and ambitious narratives in European literature.
