Description: THIS VERY IMPORTANT 1920 HARDING & COOLIDGE JUGATE PINBACK (WITH APPROXIMATELY 6 EXAMPLES KNOWN TO EXIST) DESIGN SOLD AT AUCTION ON SEPTEMBER 26, 2015 FOR $25,000. You are bidding on a VINTAGE 1920 “EXTREMELY RARE” WARREN G. HARDING AND CALVIN COOLIDGE 1-1/4” JUGATE PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN CELLULOID PINBACK BUTTON. There are approximately 6 examples known to exist, as of 2015 and this may be Number 7. Since there are very few of this type and size button, it’s possibly due to them being manufacturing samples, not made in quantities. There are no known 7/8” versions of this Harding & Coolidge button known to exist. Harding was the Republican Nominee and defeated Democratic nominee James M. Cox in a landslide, to become the first sitting Senator elected President. This item has a background of alternating Black & Gray ribbons, featuring portraits of Harding on the left and Coolidge on the right, an American Eagle at the top and the Stars & Stripes at the bottom. This Celluloid Pinback Button measures 1-1/4” in diameter and with a 10X loupe, what looks like a surface scratch (at 11 o’clock by Coolidge’s head) is something that was done at the factory on the paper disc before the shiny clear plastic was applied. The back is very clean and there is some discoloration on the back paper, due to age, but there are 2 small crimp marks on the edge where the celluloid meets the metal (one at 9 o’clock and one at 11 o’clock). Also, the back paper has a small tear/crease on the leftside and reads “Manufactured by ST.LOUIS BUTTON CO., St. Louis, Mo., Pat. Aug. 8, ’99.” Both the Front and Back of this item are in better shape than the one that sold for $25,000 in 2015. In the main picture, the Burnt Orange color (at 1 o'clock) is from the Sun, not the item. I took pictures of Both the Front and Back of this Item for your viewing, since the pictures are part of the description. All measurements are approximate, since everyone measures items differently and uses a different measuring device. This Button is a MUST for any Serious Collector and would be an Excellent addition to any collection! Your well-packaged item will be inserted in a Mylar sleeve and will be well cushioned with bubblewrap, Insured for the Winning bid amount and sent by USPS Priority Mail, with Signature Confirmation. If you have any Questions, please Ask Before placing a bid.
