Description: Vintage Starburst Wall Clock Mid Century Modern with Glass Dome MCM Refurbished 23.75" Diameter *READ" Metal frame with 24 highly reflective brass-tone metal rays. Clock dial is marked "Forrestville" and is fitted with hinged glass-dome door. Clock has a New Quartz Movement - tested and working 23.75 inches diameter tip-to-tip Ready to Hang (just add 1 AA battery - battery not included Has been completely disassembled and cleaned before reassembly and photography. This clock was fitted (October 2024) with a new, USA manufactured TAKANE Quartz movement. I used the top of the line Takane with an off-on switch and thumb dial for setting the clock's delicate hands without needing to touch them. Condition notes: This is a vintage clock that has been converted to a new Quartz movement. There are several areas on the brass-tone rays where there are "age spots" (see last group of photos for closeup images) and other small blemishes and stray light scritches. I've included several photos showing these small darkened areas. Some customers touch them up with gilt paint but I leave that to the next owner. The clock's former owners (a long time ago) appear to have left an expired battery in the original movement (which old movement I removed) and that battery leaked caustic material down onto the clock hub and adjacent ray below the dial's numeral "6" . That ray appears to have been replaced with another matching ray from a different vintage clock, judging by the way it's attached to the hub (see detail photo) - the clips are designed differently than the other 23 rays' clips.The battery acid left its mark on the clock hub. I've wire brushed and sanded that area inside and outside on the hub wall yet there is visual evidence of the leak visible on inspection. There are closeup images included of the interior and exterior showing these areas. The replaced ray (directly below the number 6) shows a color difference when the clock is viewed from the reverse side (the side that faces the wall). Priced accordingly. The movement runs silently on a single AA battery in the new Takane movement (the battery is not included due to shipping regulations). You can only hear the movement operating by holding your ear next to it. The clock has been thoroughly tested and is in working order, keeps accurate time. Hanging loop is mounted on the reverse of the round clock frame as shown in the reverse-side views of the hub. I photographed this clock out of doors on the shaded garage door on a sunny fall day - accounts for the reflections in the brass-tone metal and on the glass dial dome. Shipping details: I am experienced with more than 10 years of stabilizing and packing large vintage starburst clocks for safe transit via UPS. This clock will ship stabilized within a large outer shipping carton. As you can imagine, shipping will be expensive due to the necessary oversize carton dimensions, for which all carriers charge a good amount - UPS Ground is the least costly and best service. I generally need a bit longer handling time to build the custom-made inner stabilization package for these clocks, though generally ship via UPS Ground on or within 4 business days.
