This is an original choker/collar necklace from TANE MEXICO, handcrafted in Mexico City out of sterling silver and gold vermeil. Gold vermeil is basically a thick coating of gold over a base of another precious metal, in this case, sterling silver. The piece is for a smaller woman, as the necklace, when clasped, is only 15.75 inches around. It has an unusual hinged design with a gold vermeil wave accent at the center. The gold accent is also present on the TANE stamped box clasp. There is no silver stamp, however I have had this tested by my jeweler and it passed both the earth magnet and the THERMO-Scientific machine test. It weighs in at a whopping 120 grams (approximately as weights may vary by scale)! Go ahead and lean into that 80's retro vibe and put this baby on before heading out to Studio 54!
