Description: Vintage Unworn Japanese Onsen Hot Spring Resort Cotton Nemaki KimonoNemaki Geometric Print in Real Indigo 100% Cotton Crepe This is a light cotton crepe nemaki of the type used by guests in Japanese inns, hotels and hot spring resorts in the hot summer season. This is a fine quality item dyed with real, natural indigo in a traditional geometric pattern. It was originally sold by Kyoto’s iconic Daimaru Department Store some time in the late Showa era. It is in unworn condition in its original package with tags. Note that it may have some slight age-related discoloration from long storage that gives it a special vintage character. Generally, hotel nemaki are considered one-size-fits-all and will fit most people within reason. It goes without saying that they will be shorter on some people than on others and the sleeves longer on some people than others but in Japan, that is normally of no concern. It wraps and ties with the belt at the waist like a bathrobe. In Japan, hotel guests sleep in them but also wear them around the hotel and even in the streets of Onsen hot sping resorts.
