G13 provides the same exceptional cooling and antifreeze performance as G12(+)(++), but is manufactured in an environmentally sustainable way, using glycerin instead of glycol. Glycerin is a bi-product of biodiesel production and is much less harmful to the environment than glycol-based products (which are produced from mineral oils). In comparison with the manufacture of traditional coolant additive, it is estimated that G13 production will produce a minimum 11% lower CO2 emissions. The coolant requirements of VW vehicles are very specific. Genuine coolant additive is the only formulation that protects its aluminum engines from internal corrosion, with a combination of corrosion inhibitors and a pH neutralizing agent.
