I met Crewmember Hans Goebler at a Military Collector Show In the late 1990's I became Interested In U-Boats and asked Hans If he knew of another Crewman who spoke English. He gave me the address of Wolfgang. I corresponded with Wolfgang for several years. He let me copy photos from his collection. I had the photos reproduced at a professional Photo Laboratory, creating a negative and chemically reproducing photographs from the negatives. I gave Wolfgang money and extra photographs for autographing. With the photo you will receive an additional sheet Identifying the Captains and several others. The bottom part of the photograph was taken In Jan,1943 In Bavaria where the Crew was Invited after their heavily damaged trip at Trinidad, South America,the Captains were changed Tschech then became Captain.I have limited Identification of the men In the photograph, you will receive what I have.The U-505 was captured by the US Navy June 4th 1944. It had the distinction of being the most heavily damaged U-Boat to return to port and the only Submarine In which a Commanding Officer ( Teschech ) took his own life. The US Navy captured the Enigma Machine and Code Books, the Submarine Is on display today at The Museum of Science and Industry In Chicago.What I always offer on e-bay comes from my collection.
