Description: Own a piece of history with this WW1 US Army 77th Infantry Division Painted Statue Of Liberty Helmet Brodie. This helmet showcases the American pride with its hand-painted Statue of Liberty design. It is an original item from the period and a great addition to any militaria collection. The 77th Infantry division was the first national army division to be sent overseas to fight in WW1. The 77th was made up of draftees from New York City and was initially known as the "Metropolitan Division". Later known as the "Liberty Division" the 77th was one of five American divisions deployed behind British troops in northern France. During their 68 days in combat the 77th fought in four campaigns: Baccarat, Oise Aisne, Aisne-Marne, and Meuse-Argonne. The padding is intact in the top of the helmet but the liner and chin strap are missing. The helmet is marked either FS 168, or FS 188. It is hard to tell.
