Description: ++ Due to Customs vagaries..only available to the UK market-place ++ A superb and survivingWorld War Two Home FrontCan of American-Supplied Powdered Eggs1942-1945 With free-range eggs one of the many rationed items here in war-time Britain, in July 1942powdered eggs became available courtesy of American Aid being shipped across The Atlantic. Still rationed, however, the allowance on The Home Frontwas one tin per household, every 2 months, with the powdered contents being the equivalent of 12 actual eggs. With a long shelf-life, powdered eggs could be simplyrehydrated on a one-to-two basis, ie one table spoon of egg powder for every two spoons of water. Though powdered eggs did help feed a British nation at war,as a stand-in for eggs in their shells, there were many complaints about the taste & texture. Measuring some 4.5" high and 2.75" across, this unopened tin, complete with its powdered contents,is a remarkable surviving war-time American import in to the UK,and in a great condition, that even includes its original outer paperlabel that still retains its vibrant war-time colour. A fantastic & complete & unopened survivor from the Rationed British War-time Home Front! Thanks for looking..!
