Description: WW2 Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Flying Officer, Wireless Air Gunner Jacket Good example of an officers Service Dress Jacket for a Canadian Aircrew member. This jacket was made by the T. Eaton company of Canada, which became Eaton's one of the largest chains in Canada. On each cuff it has the two rows of braid signifying the rank of Flight Lieutenant ( Army Captain equivalent). It has the post-1943 pattern RCAF half wing for Wireless Operator/Air Gunner sewn above the left breast pocket. Interestingly, it has standard Royal Air Force buttons in place of RCAF ones, but they appear original to the uniform. It comes with the matching waist belt with brass buckle. The jacket is lined with the expected blue silk or rayon fabric. The lowest button has become unattached, but is included with the jacket. There is some visible moth damage to the bottom of the front of the jacket which I've tried to show in the pictures, but most of which isn't visible when displayed. There is also some staining and either moth or other damage causing small holes to the lining which I've also tried to show. Overall, a good example of a typical RCAF uniform as seen in 1944-45.Please check my other auctions for items of interest.
