Description: USS Franklin CV-13 on Fire This is a nice reproduction of an original World War Two photo showing the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Franklin (CV-13) on fire after being struck by a Kamikaze 50 miles off the coast of Japan on 19 March 1945. The Kamikaze planes two 500 lb. bombs penetrated her decks, igniting aircraft, ammunition and gasoline and killing 807 of the Franklin crew. The ship did survive and was taken in tow, and eventually restored propulsion and returned to Pearl and then New York. Great photo of a fighting ship that refused to die! Size of photo is about 4" x 6". Click Here to Receive My E-mail Newsletters!! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!
